When you think of sports where a mouthguard is a vital piece of equipment, cycling likely isn’t at the top of the list. We all know it’s a good idea to wear a mouthguard while playing football, hockey, boxing, MMA, and a variety of other sports where facial injuries are common, but cycling…really?
If you’re a diehard cyclist and hit the streets (or the trails) frequently, you know that taking a nasty fall is no laughing matter. Biking can be a brutal sport for those athletes who choose to push themselves to the limit, punishing their bodies in the process. Every responsible cyclist wears a helmet, but how do you protect your teeth, mouth, and your overall smile from a catastrophic wipeout that could lead to busted teeth, bloody lips, and a mound of medical bills?
Option A involves going to a dentist, and paying in the range of $350-$600 for a custom mouthguard. These guards are great, but they come at a steep cost.
